Chapter Five

Peter Ingram couldn’t think of many times since the company had been formed when he’d looked forward to entering the offices of SKIN Designs this much.

Floyd was balanced so precariously on the edge of it all. The only thing Peter needed to do now was be available to catch the boy when he finally found the courage to leap feet first into his submission. When he was able to really revel in his nature rather than just accept it, Peter had no doubt he’d be glorious.

He walked faster as he got closer to Floyd’s office, as if the other man possessed some sort of magnetic force that attracted him more strongly the closer he got.

“What do you have to be so cheerful about?”

Peter stopped halfway through a step. No one had ever accused him of being overly happy in his life. He looked over his shoulder at the fourth partner in the firm.

Jacob Neilson looked stressed out and fractious—par for the course, really.

“Was I smiling?” Peter asked. He hadn’t thought he’d fallen that hard for the boy.

“No,” Jacob admitted. “But you weren’t glowering and that’s not like you.”

Peter fell into step beside the other man. “I’m the same as I always am.”

“You’re getting laid.”

Peter raised an eyebrow at his friend.

“You’ve found a submissive who can keep up with you, or who you think you can train to keep up with you, or whatever.” Jacob consulted the folder in his hand. “I can always tell when you’ve found someone to focus your inner dom on. Although, it’s been so long since the last time you—”

“That’s enough,” Peter said, calmly but firmly.

Jacob scowled.

“Don’t take your bad mood out on me; I’m not the one who overspent.” Peter waved a hand toward the file. As the only one of them who handled the financial side of the firm, that was almost inevitably what Jacob wanted to shout at someone about.

“No, but you are taking up a lot of Floyd’s time on this project for your club,” Jacob said. “If he’s not up to the job, cut him loose and tell Miles to assign someone else.”

“He’s doing fine.”

Jacob stopped walking. He lost all interest in his file. “Not you too! Bloody hell, is the inability to keep your cock in check at work catching, or something? And, seriously, Floyd?”

Peter laughed. “Careful, Jake, you’ll be next.”

“I can assure you that I’ll never take on any submissive who has ever worked here.” He sounded so high and mighty when he said it.

Peter just shook his head, content to merely find his friend’s certainty amusing. He was in far too good a mood to let Jacob annoy him. Turning a corner, he parted ways from the other man and strode down the corridor toward Floyd’s office.

The little glass panel in the door showed that Floyd had company. Carl stood behind Floyd’s chair, looking over his shoulder at something on the computer screen.

From what he’d seen of Carl when he was around Miles, he couldn’t have been a more different submissive than Floyd was, but he was a submissive.
